On Monday September 28th at 2358 the Hillsborough Fire District was dispatched to Amwell Road for a possible fire in a crawl space. Catpain 36-2 arrived on scene, established command, and confirmed a fire in the wall on the Charlie side of the building. Chief 36 and Assistant Chief 36 arrived on scene with Chief 36 assuming command and Assistant Chief 36 taking Operations. Captain 36-2 and Assistant Chief 37 extinguished the fire with water cans and the homeowner’s garden hose prior to the arrival of district apparatus. Recognizing the house was balloon frame construction, Assistant 36 ordered crews to the basement and attic to check for extension. The exterior Charlie side was also opened to check for fire spread. The house was vented, overhaul completed, and crews cleared the scene at 0127.
